June 26, 1998The latest from Columbia:
go to MTV online's JERRY CANTRELL'S MUSCLE CAR MADNESS! at http://www.mtv.com/mtv/music_launch.html Jerry Cantrell is getting rid of his '71 Dodge Challenger -- by giving it to one lucky fan! Plus, get the low-down on Jerry's album, the tour, the video for "Cut You In" and more from Jerry himself! But then I guess you knew that already.

The big news, of course, is that, as of two days ago, Jerry is factually on tour with Metallica. Let's wish him good weather, open-minded audiences and terrorist attack-free performances. Reviews of any shows you might be attending are, needless to say, very welcome.
June 23, 1998Thanks to some incredible deal between (ours truly) MTV and Jerry (or rather Columbia) you can go here and enter a competition (where only the most hopeful will survive) to,
in MTV's words, win a "badass '71 Dodge Challenger, the very one that was used in Jerry Cantrell's video for Cut You In". The odds, I suppose, will er... "be determined by the number of entries". Good luck.
To add, MTV has put up a number of downloadable Cut You In clips (one of them supposedly containing some "exclusive outtake" material). Also up is a vague blurb about some Live Chat where you'll be invited to "chew the fat with Jerry Cantrell". Click here for details.
Finally, here is last night's Rockline in a nutshell for those who missed it: 90 minutes, cheesy introduction, annoying hosts, MTV and federal offence, a call from Layne, the good and the bad, nuclear warheads, Hank Williams, hangovers, police escorts and the story of the mighty satanhoof. A slightly more in-depth transcript should be available soon.
June 20, 1998Being the sociable fellow that he is, Jerry has decided to wrap up his all-too-short club tour by joining a long list of musicians (and downhearted entertainers alike) to appear on a living radio-age phenomenon we call Rockline (a Global Satellite Network radio show which lets listeners call in and talk to whoever is guesting). The show starts at 11:30 PM ET / 8:30 PM PT next Monday (6/22) and will be broadcast by a fairly extensive list of radio stations across America (some of which can be picked up online). Listeners in the U.S. and Canada can call 1-800-344-ROCK (1-800-344-7625) and, if all goes well, talk to Jerry himself. Once again, that's Monday, June 22, 11:30 PM ET / 8:30 PM PT. (Thanks to Chuck).
(For more info, visit a very extensive Rockline homepage at http://drchuck.simplenet.com/rockline/).
June 11, 1998Just a quick summary of the latest happenings you might have missed...
First of, a very happy birthday to Mike Inez (May 14), Jerry's AIC buddy and a very distinctive Boggy contributor, and Sean Kinney (May 27), a man who is, of course, rumored to be invading the reflected side of our planet during this year's celebration of the Wheat Day.
Incidentally, Sean will also be (or already is) joining Jerry on his Boggy tour which spreads out over the next couple of months. Other members of the newly assembled band are Chris DeGarmo, formerly of Queensr˙che, on guitar; Nick Rhinehart, from the Seattle-based Old Lady Litterbug, on bass and Chris Dowd, formerly of Fishbone, on keyboards.
For those interested, CDnow is currently offering a Japanese release of 'Boggy Depot' which includes Leave Me Alone (also featured on 'The Cable Guy' Soundtrack) as an extra track. An Australian import of My Song single is also available.
The latest update from Columbia's official Jerry Cantrell mailing list:
cd singles giveawayAnd finally, unless you've been living in a world where the name of Jerry Cantrell is as distant as that of Lemmy Koopa, you probably know that Jerry's new band is already shifting its gears. As of yet, two concerts (June 9 in Tucson, AZ and June 10 in Albuquerque, NM) have been completed.

May 12, 1998A number of per-summer tour 'club dates' have finally been confirmed. Jerry Cantrell will be playing Will Rogers Theatre in Oklahoma City on June 12, New Daisy Theatre, Memphis on June 15 and Toy Tiger, Louisville on June 16. Since all of the venues appear to be mere 500-1000 capacity clubs, one might assume that the tickets will be/are scarce (Thanks to John Mills and Stephanie).
For fans of useless trivia, 'Boggy Depot' continues to move further down the charts. It is currently at #87.
May 4, 1998It appears that yesterday's Toronto show (or what was supposed to be a show) was, for one reason or another, never played. And although I have so far been unable to find much info on the issue, I suspect that there was no real show to be played in the first place. In other words, it seems like it was nothing more that some corporate mistake or misunderstanding (the date was listed in Columbia's official touring schedule). Either way, let's hope everything gets straightened out before real touring begins. (I'd still be great if someone could fill in the details).
May 1, 1998Rumor has it that Chris DeGarmo (formerly of Queensr˙che) will be playing with Jerry as a 'touring guitarist' on the upcoming tour. And while this rumor has been coming from several different sources (which makes it somewhat more credible), any further/official confirmation is yet to come. To add, during Wednesday's chat, Sean Kinney mentioned that "...Mike [Inez] might be playing bass with us on the tour." To read the full transcript of the chat click here.
And speaking of chats with Sean Kinney, there is another one coming up on May 6 at 6:30 PM Pacific Time (http://www.boomtheory.com/BoomChat/).
Tour update: It was announced that Jerry Cantrell will be playing with Metallica at Irvine Meadows on August 28. Tickets go on sale this Saturday (tomorrow).
Chart update: Having debuted at No. 28 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart two weeks ago, 'Boggy Depot' has been on a steady downward trip since. Stopping by at the 46th position last week, the album is currently at No. 71. No risk of Jerry becoming the hip-act-of-the-day then... which is nice.
